ABOUT XACT III TEAM

The XACT team headed Professor Keertan Dheda strive to close the gap of missing TB cases by implementing an active case finding strategy and point-of-care molecular TB testing model.

THE XACT CONSORTIUM

This multicenter trial has a multitude of international collaborators working together to stop TB.

ZAMBART, Zambia

Zambart is one of Zambia’s leading research groups. Their multidisciplinary team is focused on the overlap between HIV and TB and aims to improve the quality of life of people effected by the epidemics. Zambart has extensive experience of community-based ACF programmes and is currently a key partner in the TREATS TB consortium funded by EDCTP. Zambart will coordinate the Lusaka field research team.

BRTI, Zimbabwe

BRTI is one of Zimbabwe’s leading research groups specializing in TB and HIV. Their mission is to promote the health and quality of life of the peoples of Zimbabwe and the Southern Africa Development Community SADC region. BRTI has also been involved in several EDCTP funded projects. BRTI will coordinate the Harare field research team.

INS, Mozambique

INS is a public institution is headquartered in Maputo, Mozambique. INS has experience in multi-centric studies including the CARINEMO trial and has a good laboratory infrastructure. They are part of the TESA network of excellence with UCTLI. INS will coordinate the Maputo field research team.

LSHTM, United Kingdom

LSHTM is a university renowned for its research, postgraduate studies and continuing education in public and global health. The school’s mission is to improve health and heath equity in the UK and worldwide; working in partnership with high-, middle- and low-income countries to achieve public and global health research, education and translation of knowledge in policy and practice. LSHTM is an internationally recognised centre of health economics excellence and will assist in the cost-effectiveness analysis.

RUMC, Netherlands

Radboud UMC is a teaching hospital affiliated with the Radboud University Nijmegen in the Netherlands. Radboud UMC has world class imaging expertise and software development for computer-aided diagnosis of TB (CAD4TB). Radboud UMC will assist in the CAD4TB of the CXR and PET-CT scans.

OSR, Italy

IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele is a scientific institute affiliated with the San Raffaele Hospital in Milan, Italy. They perform cutting edge translational research by integrating basic and clinical research. The Emerging Bacterial Pathogens Unit within the institute’s Division of Immunology, Transplantation and Infectious Diseases will assist in the microbial genomic analysis.
